![]() So what's on offer? OpenGL? XNA? WPF? DirectX? I've never tried any of these before. I'm not aiming for anything prettier than that image I showed you. I'm currently happy with the look of my game, just not the performance. I'm really not sure what to choose though. So yeah, this is where you fine people come in I'm looking to change things up, move to something more sophisticated. ![]() God forbid if I ever publish the game, what if the user has a shite CPU? What if he is running a virus scan or other programs? I want something more reliable. I guess I could make sure there isn't much background processing from the game when using the GDI+ but I still don't like having the animation so CPU dependent. In another thread I asked about multithreading (which I kind of have the hang of now) and when I run a bunch of tasks in the background the GDI+ performance goes right down, I guess because the CPU is being heavily taxed. In terms of performance, it can be smooth but at other times is choppy. I mean I am trying to make a video game here and it seems like a waste of the graphics card. Things are fine but I hate the fact that GDI+, as far as I can tell, is pretty much entirely CPU driven. So yeah I just have little circles running around on the field. For those who aren't familiar with what they look like, here is an image. ![]() I am working on a little football simulator along similar lines to the Football Manager games.
